This work begins with a disquieting observation: the person who wakes up tomorrow will not be the same person who made this work today. Not metaphorically — structurally. The self is not a continuous thread but a sequence of moments, each slightly displaced from the last. What happens to the version that was left behind?
The silhouettes dispersed across the surface are not separate figures — they are versions of the same body at the moment of divergence. Each inhabits a different layer of the composition, surrounded by different fragments of world, different textures of stone, fabric, light, and shadow. They do not communicate. They do not see each other. They share only an origin point that is no longer visible.
The red threads do not connect them — they cut across, tracing the paths not taken, the trajectories that branched off and kept moving in directions we will never follow. They are not roots. They are not veins. They are the lines of force that remain after a choice has already been made.
What the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics describes mathematically, this work renders materially: the discarded versions of ourselves do not disappear. They persist somewhere in the structure of things, buried beneath the surface we inhabit, visible only as absence, as silhouette, as the faint gold thread that runs along the edge of what might have been.
