Bon courage
2023
Part of the installation, approximate size 50 x 50 cm
Bon courage (fr. good luck), courage (fr. courage), coeur (fr. heart)
The installation is both a wish for good luck, a reminder of wisdom, and that true courage comes from the heart.
The red balls are threads of destiny, a symbol that is reflected in many
cultures and pre-Christian myths. The original ball can be interpreted
as the collective unconscious, from which we all read field
energies, thoughts and feelings.
It seems that if all the threads come from the same ball, then everything is predetermined and does not everything is predetermined and doesn't depend on a man.
But it's not so - everyone is free to choose his or her own thread of destiny and change it another according to one's will.
Wish map
2022
Wood, cotton and woolen threads, objects (crystals, stones, wood,
Feathers, flowers, toys, cards)
The main canvas of the map of desires is made in the macrame technique, which sends back Nostalgia for the Soviet way of life (the traditional "grandmother's" Interior decorations) and to the ancient Slavic knot magic.
One of the most common ways of transmitting magical power, fulfilling
wishes or getting rid of troubles were nauzy or knots. Nauzas could be as simple knots on a string or thread, or contained a special
filler (herbs, magical things, roots, salt, bones, animal skin,
snake heads, etc.).
I combine traditional Slavic nauzas to attract good luck, love,
Wealth with modern symbols - toys, lego elements, toys, elements of lego, jewelry. The work also gently teases out the popularization of wish cards in today's media space, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of working internally and externally on one's intentions through the choice of medium (quite time-consuming and painstaking).
Art for dolls
2022
Installation, approximate dimensions 110 x 60 x 40 cm
If contemporary art is context-dependent, then is it devalued if it is placed in a dollhouse? If the painting was shown in a white cube and recognized by institutions as an object of contemporary art, then does the canvas become a mere decoration for the dollhouse? This The work is a reflection on demonstrative consumption, in in which, in Kossuth's words, the work of art
is reduced to the status of a winning ticket in a cultural lottery, the ultimate goal is not to buy something that is already value, but the construction of that value and the the substitution of cultural authority for financial authority.
