Duos in Barcelona
Una ofrena a la ciutat que estimo, i per a tu, que l'has trobada.

An offering to the city I love, and to you who found it.
I returned to Barcelona this year after time away, and fell in love with the city all over again. It is a wonderful place, and I wanted to make it a gift — some kind of gesture back toward everything it gives.
This year I started working in appliqué collage — on paper, cut and layered by hand, or digitally using paper I painted myself. From this practice came the series Duos in Barcelona: pairs walking through the city. Lovers, friends, mothers and fathers with children, owners with their dogs. I photographed them from behind and reworked the images into collages, so that each figure keeps its privacy while together they form a collective portrait — the city as it is lived, in twos.
The first edition is being left around Barcelona as an offering: on benches, in parks, on café tables, on windowsills. Each card is placed for whoever finds it, as a gift to the city and to the people who live in it, out of love.
